Janet Bevan On Rosemary Abrahams
Rosemary and I have known each other for many years, our paths crossing in the commercial world of textile design all over the world and our friendship and mutual respect for each other’s work has endured. Rosemary as a painter and designer, mine as designer and weaver of furnishing textiles.
I retired from the commercial world of design, but continued my creativity and love of texture and colour in making quilts and stitched textiles. A chance remark one day that many of Rosemary’s paintings would make great quilts, led to the invitation to take part in this exhibition. I love Rosemary’s use of colour and texture in paint and could see how many of her paintings could be interpreted into textile pieces.
